Therapy

Psychotherapy as a space for understanding

There are moments when the ways we have understood ourselves no longer feel enough.

Starting point

We may find ourselves repeating patterns we do not fully understand, feeling disconnected from ourselves or others, or carrying questions that are difficult to explore alone. Therapy offers a space to slow down, reflect, and come to a deeper understanding of our experience.

What it is

What psychotherapy is

Psychotherapy is a process of exploring our inner world — thoughts, emotions, memories, relationships, and the meanings we make from our experiences.

It is not about fixing a person or removing every difficulty from life. Human beings are not problems to be solved. It is about creating a relationship in which we can be seen, understood, and supported in exploring who we are and who we are becoming.

How I work

As an Integrative Psychotherapist I work with each person as an individual rather than applying one approach to everyone. Our work may involve your personal history, your relationships, your emotional patterns, your sense of identity, and the questions that bring you here.

The foundations
  • Exploring the past

Early experiences and important relationships shape how we understand ourselves and the world. Psychodynamic perspectives help us trace patterns that formed over time and continue to shape the present.

  • Understanding the present

Existential and humanistic perspectives ask how we relate to choice, freedom, responsibility and uncertainty. They consider not only why we struggle, but how we want to live.

  • Discovering deeper layers

Transpersonal and Jungian perspectives explore the wider dimensions of experience — meaning, creativity, symbol, value, and the search for a more authentic sense of self.

  • Practical perspectives

Where they support the work, I also draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Transactional Analysis.

What brings people

What brings people to therapy

  • Identity and self-understanding

A sense that there is more to understand about yourself and the way you experience life.

  • Relationships

Patterns of connection, closeness, boundaries and belonging — and the ways we relate to others.

  • Life transitions

Change, loss or uncertainty that invites us to reconsider who we are and where we are going.

  • Anxiety and inner struggles

Worry, inner tension, sadness or overwhelm, and difficulty finding a sense of stability.

  • Meaning and existential questions

Who am I? What matters to me? How do I want to live?

The relationship

The therapeutic relationship

At the heart of therapy is the relationship between therapist and client, built through trust, honesty, curiosity and respect. It is within this relationship that new ways of understanding ourselves begin to emerge.
