Being&Becoming

Sessions

Working together

What happens when we begin, and the practical arrangements around it.

The first meeting

How our work begins

The first session is a chance to meet and explore what brings you to therapy — what you hope to understand, and whether working together feels right.

We can discuss your experiences, what you are hoping for, and any questions you may have about how I work. There is no obligation beyond that conversation.

The process

What therapy involves

Therapy is a collaborative process. There is no fixed formula, because each person brings a unique history, personality, and way of experiencing the world.

Together we may explore your personal history and the experiences that shaped it, your emotional patterns and ways of relating, your relationships with yourself and others, the meanings you make from your experience, and the possibilities for change.

What to expect

What you can expect from me

My role is not to provide quick solutions, or to tell you who you should become. It is to offer a space where you can explore yourself with honesty, curiosity and compassion, and to support you in developing greater awareness and choice.

Confidentiality

Therapy takes place within a confidential and respectful space, which allows you to explore your experiences openly and at your own pace.

I work under regular clinical supervision. Supervision supports the quality of my work and is itself confidential.

There are a small number of circumstances in which confidentiality may need to be set aside, such as a serious risk to your safety or someone else's. I will explain these at our first meeting.
